Brian Chlan grew up in West Friendship, Maryland, lost in music — cello, mostly — when he wasn't rioting through the woods. After graduating in electrical engineering from the University of Delaware, he spent twelve years in automation technologies, leaving to be a full-time father. He began The Arcadian Legacy a few weeks later. Along the way he accidentally co-invented a device (for the glamorous HVAC industry), now licensed to a major manufacturer.

He lives in Media, Pennsylvania, likely absorbed in his office (in the basement, of course). He's convinced of his daughter's luminescence, his wife's cleverness and grace, his two dogs' sweetness — and that he'll die long before attempting half of what calls to him.
